Much Ado About Nothing, Ghostlight Theatre, 2023

An intimate, immersive production of Much Ado About Nothing at the Ghostlight Theatre. Set in 1941, the audience is welcomed to an intimate house party hosted by a troupe of actors and artists welcoming friends home from basic training. In pursuit of merriment, they choose to put on a play in the living room, and choose Much Ado. As the actors run about and put on this production for their entertainment, the lines between reality and make believe begin to blur. Actors interact with audience members, watch each others’ scenes, and encourage eating, drinking and dancing from the audience in turn.

Directed and adapted by Kristina McCloskey.

Praise for Much Ado About Nothing 2023

It's a great production if you're new to Shakespeare because it makes it accessible and fun, and if you're a lover of the Bard you'll really appreciate the work they've put in to bring this play to life. It's a great time.

Kristina McCloskey and her team have done a wonderful job staging this as playfully as possible. Imagine a party in the 1940s, where the party guests put on a Shakespeare play for fun. Yes, it's a show in a show, and I was skeptical at first, but by the end, I was into it. The mashup of costume styles was fun, the concept suited all the dual roles going on, but mostly, it was amazing at how just a few creative staging techniques really brought the play to the audience. It's immersive and it works. - Andrew Glisson

Benedick carries the show, well matched by Beatrice, closely followed by the Great Countenance of The Most Animated of Princes, and a Noble Leonato… and a thoroughly enjoyable cast…
